The pineapple is oval to cylindrical in shape and is a composite fruit. The fruit develops from many small fruits. The pineapple is juicy and fleshy with a trunk that can be described as fibrous. The peel of the fruit is hard and waxy. The color of this can be dark green, yellow, orange-yellow or red when the fruit is ripe. The flesh ranges from nearly white to yellow. The size of the total fruit can be up to 30 cm.
